By 2025, AI will have written a surprising share of the world’s code
When I first read this headline, I had mixed feelings. But today, it’s become fairly common, and I’m confident it’ll soon be completely normalized.
A recent survey found that 91% of developers now use AI to generate at least part of their code, and on average, programmers attribute 28% of their output to AI assistance.
That got me thinking. AI is writing more code, better and faster than ever. I’ll admit, it’s incredibly useful—for me, and undoubtedly for the entire developer community.
AI-generated code is here, and it’s being integrated into our software at an astonishing pace.
Still, as time goes on, it’s worth asking: what’s the cost of this new programming “superpower”?
